Introduction to Grails

This one day course aims to introduce participants to the exciting Grails web application framework. The course is highly interactive, providing participants the ability to build a working Grails web application during class, thus applying the material introduced in the presentation part of the course. Participants will experience Grails development first hand and gain experience using the tools provided by the Grails distribution and popular Grails integrated development environments.

• Learn how Grails simplifies web development on the Java platform.
• Understand the Grails architecture and the major components that make up a Grails web application.
• Leverage Grails “Convention over Configuration” to write less code and get your web applications up and running faster.
• Learn how to extend the base Grails functionality with the use of plugins.
• Develop rich Web 2.0 applications using AJAX functionality built into Grails.
