Agile Product Planning

Years of experience teaching and coaching agile communities have taught us the importance and skills of product planning. In this course, David Hussman uses his experiences to teach chartering, product road mapping, pragmatic personas, story writing, story mapping and a host of other value mining tools. This course is for product owners, product managers or anyone looking to introduce leaner product planning tools. The course covers everything in the Certified Product Owner course and more. For anyone looking to experience, practice, and question agile product planning, this course provides a highly interactive style that is engaging, challenging and informative.

While this course is focused toward product owners, product manager, the materials are accessible for anyone who is part of an agile community looking to improve their product planning tools and techniques.

Course Outline (what we will do)

Day 1: The day starts with a short overview of agility and how it helps and sometimes hurts the delivery of competitive and valuable products. After discussing expectations for the class, the rest of the day covers the fundamentals of agile product planning including road mapping tools, creating and using product backlogs, personas and user stories and story maps.

Day 2: With the fundamentals of agile product planning in place, the course moves on into what it takes to keep a backlog strong and a product evolving over time as the tools and techniques for tracking product progress and backlog grooming. Also covered are some of the common struggles experienced as well as collection of solutions.
